Summary

As you can see from the website, we build many bespoke specialist studios commercially and privately. Our sound studios are extremely popular for their flexible specification and high yet affordable quality. This gentlemen, an accomplished musician, needed a sound studio with an integral control room and planned to utilise part of his back garden. He viewed one of our existing sound studios and was suitably impressed with the thermal and acoustic performance.

Details

We offer two acoustic packages (bronze and gold) the details of which can be found on our website under 'extras'. This client chose to incorporate our gold package, the main driver being functional performance. Given that the weakest point in terms of acoustic performance, would be the glazing, this enabled our designer to create a studio that looks great but had minimal glazing. Considerable natural light was achieved however by means of two specialist sun tube, bolstered by an additional 12 internal dimmable down lighters. The studio's SIPs (structured insulated panels) 'box' construction is not only exceptionally thermally efficient but offers excellent acoustic insulation due to the multi layered nature of the panels over laid with densely fibrous kiln dried thermowood cladding or cement particle board. The 10mm laminate floor finish and EPDM rubber roofing enhances these properties further. As an additional feature our client chose our Hitachi Shirokuma climate control unit as this runs very quietly and requires minimal energy to maintain perfect climate control winter and summer. Internally as shown by the photographs, the area was partitioned to create sound proofed control room. Throughout the whole studio, walls were insulated with 'silent board' before being fully plastered and decorated matt white, the ceiling had a double layer of 12.5mm acoustic plaster board and the flooring was underlain with 15mm 'impactalay+'. Finally, above the entrance door, an external security light with PIR was fitted.
