Our client wished to install a music room for her son, a keen (and very loud) drummer! Garden Spaces have a long established and trusted reputation for installing high specification music rooms with enhanced acoustic insulation and performance. This studio included the following noteworthy features:
SIPs construction with wood cladding: Materials used in the construction of our buildings not only give outstanding thermal performance but are intrinsically sound insulating, which is hugely advantageous whether it is a work place, a TV room, somewhere to relax in or, as in this case, a music room.
Screw pile foundations and TPOs: Our state of the art stainless steel screw foundations have minimal impact on large tree root systems, enabling builds far closer to trees than trench foundations. Crucial for this build, as the neighbouring tree, like so many in London, had a TPO (Tree preservation order) and so the build had to be approved by an arboriculturalist appointed to inspect the site by the local council.
Bespoke design: Carefully designed to tuck in behind the large tree yet achieve maximum internal space. There is minimal glazing to maximise the sound insulation and acoustic performance of the room.
Gold Acoustic Package: We offer varying degrees of acoustic insulation depending on the level of soundproofing and performance required. Our client chose our 'Gold acoustic package' consisting of the following:
- Walls - Battened with acoustic mineral wool & acoustic wall panels (52.5mm)
- Ceiling - Soundproofing ceiling board (18mm)
- Floor - Acoustic underlay mat (10mm)
- Acoustic glazing
Western red cedar cladding: These stunning images demonstrate the richness of the cedar tones when freshly oiled. We offer two types of cladding: thermowood and cedar. Both are kiln dried so will not warp or swell and secured with secret stainless steel fixings that do not bleed.
Engineered oak flooring: The layered nature of this beautiful flooring not only minimises expansion movement but enhances the sound insulation still further. It also comes with an impressive 30-year manufacturer's warranty.
Heating and electrics: Our experienced electrician installed 9 internal and 3 external LED downlights, 8 double power sockets in chrome and a wall mounted convector heater with thermostat, all Part P certified.
