Summary

We all love music, whether it be listening to music at home, going to concerts or playing an instrument, and to have somewhere specifically built to enjoy this interest is something we would all like. This is what our client came to us for on this project. She needed a small studio at the end of her garden in which she could play instruments without disturbing her neighbours.
The studio would need power which wouldn't be a problem, and Ms Alsbury requested that part of the studio would need to be used as storage space so could we integrated this into the design. Having done this many times in the past we used our expertise in both building and designing to create her a perfect studio.
As our client lived in a flat rather than a house on this project, the plans would need to submitted to the council in a planning permission application. Ms Alsbury asked if we could take care of this application which we were happy to do.

Details

Before we could undertake any building work on this project we had to go through a planning application. At Garden Spaces we have our own architect who we supply all dimensions and information to, and he draws up the necessary drawings, information and items needed to make the planning application as thorough as possible. This not only helps reduce the time it takes to get the application approved but means our clients are free of worry and having to chase things themselves.
Planning was granted and we go construction underway. This studio is of our Helix spec but does feature some upgrades. The flooring was upgraded from our standard laminate wood floor to our solid engineered oak flooring. This comes in a variety of colours and looks very nice in this studio. The lighting in our Helix studios as standard is a butterfly strip light, Ms Alsbury chose to upgrade this to chrome down lights and changed the light switches and power sockets to chrome as well to compliment the high quality finish inside the studio.
To keep the temperature optimal all year round, a wall mounted convector heater was specified and installed. This will keep the studio perfectly warm even in the coldest winter.
The store area was incorporated into the design and is well hidden when looking at the front of the studio. This space was large enough to store garden furniture and equipment adding to the versatility of the building.
A very nice looking studio ready for music.
