Summary

Our studios, designed to your size and specification, create fabulous space for endless uses; as gyms, home offices, teenage hangouts, annexes, art studios, sound studios, yoga parlours or simply garden retreats. The premise on which this studio was created was the need for a room in which to expand a cake design and decorating business. Our clients decided to remove their existing shed to create maximum space for this new studio and so, incorporating garden storage was an integral element of the design.

Details

Our designer met with the MacKenzies, to look at the build site in detail and discuss with them their aspirations and functional requirements. They had envisaged the studio sitting centrally across the back of the garden however on reflection and with some minor landscaping by us (using reclaimed sleepers), it was decided the studio should be situated close to the left boundary freeing up useful space to the right. The studio layout was carefully thought through with close attention to the position and style of the glazing. The powder coated aluminium French doors and narrow glazed panels were positioned tight to the left hand corner, to create maximum return internally, on the right side, for storage. The large side window affords lots of additional natural light but at half height enables a desk or benches below. On gloomy days the six internal and four external LED downlights ensure great working light, with four double power sockets strategically placed throughout. The store room, partitioned internally using SIPs, is accessible through a 'secret' door, expertly clad to blend seamlessly with the front façade. Given the intended use of the studio, maintaining a precise ambient temperatures will be important and so the Hitachi Shirokuma climate control unit was installed. Final touches included a non-slip composite step into the studio and two external weatherproof power sockets, great for gardening equipment or maybe playing music while gardening!
