Summary

It's poignant when debating the virtues of installing a Garden Spaces studio to reflect on the relative expense of local real estate. Cambridge, a beautiful and highly sought after location, has become one of the most expensive places to purchase property in the country. Increasing living space therefore also comes at a premium. Our studio prices are the same regardless of postcode, providing an enduring, cost effective, thermally efficient and arguably attractive option for creating additional space. Quite simply, the Malhotras needed more space; space for the children to hangout, space for work, space to relax, space possibly for overnight guests. Installing a large, multifunctional studio, with no compromise on luxury, functionality nor of course quality, within budget, was our remit.

Details

This build is in essence a standard Helix studio. Regardless of model, our clients can cherry pick as many upgrades (from the standard specification) or additional features as they require, tailoring every studio to budget whilst designing a bespoke solution. Here there was one change from our standard helix specification; an upgrade to LED downlights from strip lights and one additional feature chosen; underfloor heating with touch pad thermostatic control (as shown in the photo). The external cladding is our kiln dried Finnish pine which is secretly fixed with stainless steel pins. This thermowood will not warp, is extremely durable and requires no maintenance. The glazed expanse across the front consists of French doors with 5 point high security locking and two fixed panels. These and the rear window frame are uPVC in anthracite grey, which compliments the golden tones of cladding. All glazing is A-rated argon filled with toughened glass, ensuring no compromise on the high thermal performance (i.e. low running costs) of this SIPs (structured insulated panels) studio. The floor is our oak effect 10mm v groove laminate, exceptionally durable, works perfectly with our underfloor heating, is easy to clean and comes with a 25 year warranty! So overall, a very spacious, functional, contemporary garden studio that will we trust, provide that flexible additional space this family wished for.
