Summary

Our clients had a relatively unused area of garden behind their shed and garage and a large willow tree, that they hoped could be used to site a small gym and sauna room. As with every project there was a finite budget as well as a finite amount of space and so designing something aesthetic and functional without compromise on design features and internal space was our challenge.

Details

Our designer completed his (no obligation) site survey and discussed with the Salisbury's their vision and functional requirements. Their initial concept was of an L shaped studio predicated by the ground available, however to maximise the internal area we suggested an additional oblique wall housing the French doors. Not only did this maximise internal area, it orientated the doors to face the natural approach point between the tree and garden shed. The windowless section of studio to the right is intended for the sauna our clients were to fit retrospectively. We ensured the necessary wiring with a separate fuse circuit was in place for ease of installation. Notable features of this quirky studio include the western red cedar cladding: an FSC kiln-dried wood with vibrant golden brown tones. The window and door frames are anthracite grey uPVC which come with argon filled A-rated toughened glass as standard. The flooring, our robust 10mm V-groove oak effect laminate floor, is also standard and comes with a 25 year residential warranty. Three double power sockets, five internal and two external down lighters completed this compact bijou gym.
