Summary

Mr Watts had a garden that wrapped around the house at first floor level. He wished to install a home gym making the best possible use of space available. There were ground levels, fence lines and a sizeable tree to consider in the design. He approached Garden Spaces and after an initial telephone conversation, met with our designer on site, for a no-obligation free survey.

Details

The existing trampoline and children's Wendy house where moved to create space in the section of garden that wraps around the corner of the house. This design was complex. No two walls were straight nor at right angles and our client wanted maximum internal head height without having to go through planning. We achieved the increased height by digging down at the rear of the building and countersinking the floor. The maximum external height of the building therefore remained at 2.5 meters which falls within permissible development. We installed climate control and reinforced the ceiling to withstand the suspension of TRX equipment. The design also incorporated a covered decked area for outdoor work outs when weather permits. As the images reflect, the decking was expertly installed around the tree! Our client chose white polymer render for his external finish which gives the building a contemporary sleek appearance. Overall a great use of garden space.
