Summary

This gentleman had originally intended installing a brick building in his garden for use as a home gym. For various reasons, including cost, Mr Elson eventually approached Garden Spaces to compare his options. We drew up our own drawings and pricing based on the original brick layout and size and Mr Elson was extremely happy with both. We duly installed this fabulous gym which is spacious yet unimposing in the garden.

Details

To build within permissible development, a flat rooved building must not exceed 2.5m externally (when within 2m of a boundary). As with most gym builds, our client wanted good head height internally, to accommodate and use the gym equipment. To that end, planning permission was sought and approved to build to an external finished height of 3 metres, achieving ample head-room internally. The French doors and the lovely side window are also extra tall (2.25m), ensuring good proportions and natural light were achieved. The frames are uPVC in anthracite grey (RAL 7016) which matches the non-slip composite decking. Internally the frames are white giving a light bright feel to the workout room. The floor is our popular 10mm v groove laminate, which looks great, is easy to clean and exceptionally hard wearing (comes with a 25 year residential warranty). Externally this gym is cedar clad; kiln dried and installed with secret stainless steel fixings, it can be oiled annually but otherwise is maintenance free. Our electrician installed a Hitachi Shirokuma climate control unit, ten internal and four external LED downlights and four double power sockets. Overall a great space for working out, whenever time and inclination permit!
