Our clients wished to create some extra family space at the bottom of their garden. They already had a cedar clad extension on the back of the house and so a Garden Spaces studio promised to blend well with the existing buildings. This bespoke design incorporated a number of features:
Climate Control: Our specialist engineers installed a Hitachi Shirokuma 'A'+ energy efficient inverter for perfect ambient temperatures.
Cloakroom: A compact sink, toilet (in vanity units), extractor (with adjustable timer) and a macerator (2 way) were installed and certified, in accordance with Building Control regulation.
Integral Storage: The studio design included a useful storage area, for garden tools etc., accessible through its own external door, cedar clad to blend seamlessly with the outside.
Decking with overhanging roof: The large area of non-slip composite decking is enhanced by a covered area with external down lighters in the ceiling, giving shelter from sun or rain.
Windows and Doors: Powder coated aluminium bi-folding doors span across the front, giving stacks of light and extending the usable space on the decking, when fully opened. A high opening window ensures good ventilation through the building.
Engineered oak floor: The Buntings decided to upgrade from the normal Helix 10mm laminate flooring to engineered oak. Our oak floor is expertly installed and which comes with a 30-year manufacturer's warranty.
Electrics: 7 internal and 7 external LED down-lights and 6 double power sockets plus a 5" strip light in the storage area, installed by our experienced electrician and certified in accordance with building regulations Part P.
PIR Security light: An additional feature chosen by many of our customers. These sensors are therefore known as PIR (passive infrared) detectors or pyroelectric sensors, giving instant light as you approach the studio.
