Summary

Garden Spaces can provide a stylish solution to any 'space' related issue, whether that be a standalone building in the garden or, as in this case, a spacious yet affordable extension to an existing building. These clients had wanted to extend their downstairs living space for many years but quotes for traditional builds were prohibitively expensive as well as protracted and disruptive. Whilst wishing to leave their existing external wall in place, they hoped to accentuate the views of the garden by maximising the amounts of glass in the extension. Using our superb concept SIPs (structurally insulated panel system) construction, we were able to extend their property under permissible development, by a fantastic 16 square meters in less than three weeks (from survey to completion) and all within their budget.

Details

As you will see from our website, the vast majority of our builds are finished with western cedar cladding but this by no means all we offer. For many, a clad finish may not be conducive with the existing building or be the look that is desired and so we offer the following alternative finishes:

  • Stone cladding
  • Parklex cladding
  • Cement particle board and weatherproof paint finish
  • Polymeric rendering

This client chose the very sleek looking polymer render which blended beautifully with the house and gave a smooth faultless finish. Furthermore it is maintenance free as the polymer itself is white and requires no painting.
From the photographs you can see the elegant proportions and symmetry of the design with argon filled A rated toughened glazing from floor to ceiling, incorporating dual French doors opening onto the garden. This together with the thermally efficient SIPs (structurally insulated panel system) create an area highly efficient to heat. The final aesthetic touches included down lighters and a tactile engineered oak floor with touch screen control underfloor heating. As you can see, our clients were delighted with their swiftly built stylish extension. We know it will last not one but many decades.
