Summary

With the advent of flat screen TV's, people with the desire and the room capacity have created cinema style rooms in their homes. Many however may want a cinema room but simply don't have enough space indoors and acoustically insulating brick walls effectively is neither simple nor cheap. We build many sound studios offering bespoke acoustic enhancement packages. Moreover, being of SIPs construction (structured insulated panels) the very walls of our studio are not only extremely thermally efficient but also acoustically insulating. It is no surprise therefore that our studios make superb cinema rooms which is exactly what Mr Blackburn wanted in his garden. He required a sound proof room plus an additional separate area ostensibly for use as an office. The cinema equipment was to be fitted retrospectively by a specialist company.

Details

After detailed discussion with our client we designed the studio as seen in these images. The glass room at the front was conceived as office space but also serves as a sound proofed entrance into the cinema. The area of non-slip composite decking lent itself to a large roof overhang, providing an ideal sheltered outdoor area for relaxing, entertaining or maybe debating 'Mark Kermode style' a film that's just been watched. Mr Blackburn opted for our gold acoustic package which includes 'NoiseStop' acoustic wall panels, double layered acoustic plaster board on the ceilings and premium sound proofing matting on the floor, plus acoustic glazing. The majority of our 'garden spaces' are externally finished in a cedar cladding but we do offer a broad selection of alternatives including organic resin render as seen here, available in a wide range of colours. The window frames are powder coated aluminium in anthracite grey with silver integral blinds. Overall a striking bespoke building, giving the space and acoustic performance our client needed for his cinema suite.
