Summary

As children grow older they will want their own space in which to relax and unwind away from parents, somewhere they can create their own environment where they can watch television, play games consoles or just have somewhere to relax with friends without disturbing others in the house. Having a studio in your garden is the perfect solution to this problem and this is what Mr and Mrs Bird came to us for.
They had an old jungle gym in their garden which needed replacing with something suitable for their teenage children to use as a social space but which would also suit the adults requirements. The studio would need a large decked area to accomodate a sizeable trampoline as well as double as a social space when this was folded away.
Satellite tv points were requested along with wireless broadband internet, a heating solution, some deck lights and something to control the amount of light entering the studio as well as offering increased privacy.
An existing decked area would need removing along with some established plants to increase the plot size available for the studio and its new decking.

Details

Before we arrived on site the garden had been cleared ready for us to start building as you can see from the photograph. The existing decking had been removed and existing shrubs had been cut back or taken away completely.
This provided us with a perfect build site, the ground is very flat and there were no problems with tree roots or other obstacles. Once building started it progressed very quickly. The large bifolding doors at the front of the studio allow plenty of natural light into the studio, and have been retrofitted with integrated aluminium blinds to control both the amount of light coming into the building on bright sunny days, as well as affording those using the studio complete privacy whether watching television or socialising with friends and family.
The powdercoated aluminium framed windows and doors match the roof trim and composite decking creating a visually striking studio which is now the main feature of the garden. The composite decking has many advantages of traditional wooden decking in that it doesn't fade over time, mould does not grow on it making it very slippery and is very hard wearing. Ready for many years of use in all weathers. The trampoline fits perfectly onto the decking. The measurements for this had been provided by the client so we were able to design the decking around the trampoline and blend this in and around the studio.
Wireless broadband internet was provided through the power cable and satellite tv sockets were installed ready for supplier to come and connect once we had finished.
To heat the studio underfloor heating was installed. This can be set at a constant temperature ensuring the studio is always warm even on the coldest winter days.
A very nice looking studio which will no doubt be fought over, parents may use it more than their children.
