Summary

You can see from these great images that this is yet another truly bespoke Garden Spaces gym. Our client was a professional fitness instructor who specialises in TRX training. As such she wished for a gym in her garden from which to run her business. Fundamental to her requirements was a ceiling that could withstand the force from several TRX Suspension Trainers (the strap systems shown in the photographs). Without compromise on quality or functionality we worked within a strict budget to achieve a fantastic new work place for this dynamic client.

Details

Gyms require a little more head height internally than a standard room due the equipment generally installed. In this case, because the site was suitable, the area on which we built was lowered slightly and the floor effectively countersunk to ground level. In this way the external height of the building did not exceed 2.5 meters and so was classed as permissible development. The next important feature required was a very strong ceiling. Steel beams were incorporated to reinforce the roof and enable several specialist TRX bolts to be installed, to which the Suspension Trainers are attached and safely used.
Our sleek Hitachi Shirokuma climate control unit was chosen. It is extremely efficient, slim and quiet to run (with the condenser unit discretely installed at the back of the building). It provides instant ambient temperature control winter or summer which in turn ensures the perfect environment in which to work out. The images show the beautifully glazed front to this build, with a long shallow porch effect created by the overhanging roof and decking. This glazed front could be achieved using bifolds but in this case, to remain within budget, stunning floor to ceiling fixed glazed panels were installed around centralised French doors.
Additional features of this stylish workplace included a side window to enhance natural light levels at the back of the studio plus ten internal and four external down lighters. As with the majority of our builds, Western Red Cedar cladding was chosen. It is a naturally hard wood that has anti-bacterial properties and is incredibly hard wearing, able to withstand the elements for many decades without degradation. To compliment this, all frames were constructed in robust powder coated aluminium, in contemporary anthracite grey.
We are delighted to say our client was thrilled with the end result as you can read!
