Summary

This project had a range of requirements and as with many of our buildings would serve a dual purpose in being employed as both a home office and leisure space for the family. Located some distance from the house working from home would be possible in the new garden room as it would provide a dedicated space, free from distractions and mean work could be left behind at the end of the day.
The family area would include a wall mounted tv, sofa and other furniture and as the clients were keen to use the room throughout the year we discussed a range of options to maintain the temperature in the winter. A large glazed section was desired so we explained the properties of our recommended glazing units that are designed to be highly thermally efficient.

Details

Our design included a 5.4 metre sliding bi fold aluminium door which enables the room to be opened right up in the summer months, letting in fresh air and helping to fuse the internal and external space. Clad in hard wearing cedar the wood was additionally oiled to help maintain the distinctive colour.
Internally we fitted our standard lighting and power along with a climate control unit. At the request of the client we fitted anti rodent mesh to stop any unwanted visitors from becoming a nuisance. Following completion of the building the client laid paving to the front and sides which provides additional usable space for enjoying the garden or taking a break from the working day.
