Summary

Mr Bussey wished to create a small office from which to work from home. There was a small but ideal plot of land down the side of his property that he had in mind. In addition he hoped there would be enough capacity for integral storage to the rear of the office, accessible externally, for bikes and general garden storage.

Details

With this property being on a new build estate, permission was required from the estate management before commencing with. As anticipated, because the studio falls within permissible planning, they raised no objections. Some fencing was removed to maximise the space available for this build and though the photographs don't show it, the plot is actually wedged shaped, widening to the rear which ensured a decent storage area. The gap between the studio and house was, by design rather than good fortune, wide enough to get a down with a bicycle. This did however restrict access into the store room, a problem thoughtfully overcome by installing two half width doors hinging inwards. The external cladding is our kiln dried thermowood which comes as standard in our Helix model, as does the floor, a durable 10mm v groove laminate, complete with a 20 year residential warranty. (Further details of flooring options, externals finishes and other features can be found on this website.) Other features of this build include aluminium blinds, a wall mounted convector heater, seven LED downlights with a pendant light in the storage area and three double power sockets. Overall, a satisfyingly great use of the space down the side of the house.
