Summary

The Eddisons needed a home office from which to operate their business. Installing a garden studio appealed but they have a relatively small garden and so making the most of the space available, without dominating the garden, was an important issue. Within the design they also hoped to incorporate some invaluable integral storage. They chose to use Garden Spaces after seeing our studios at the Grand Designs. We have stands at the 2016 Grand Designs Live London (30th Apr " 8th May) and the NEC (19-23rd Oct) if you want to visit us!

Details

Access to this property was restricted but nothing we are not used to overcoming. All materials were carefully hand balled through the house and additional access through the neighbours' garden was permitted. To achieve maximum studio width, the fence was temporarily removed to enable construction as tight to the boundary as possible. The studio itself is a quirky L shape, providing a larger room as the main office looking down the garden and a slightly smaller room to one side for storage. The two sets of French doors and windows are uPVC framed in anthracite grey, which matches the non-slip composite decked steps. All glazing is 'A' rated argon filled with toughened glass to compliment the exceptional thermal properties courtesy of the SIPS (structured insulated panels). In total 8 internal and 4 external aurora LED downlights were fitted plus 5 double power sockets and wireless broadband via power cable. Overall a very efficient use of garden space now installed with a bespoke contemporary functional office and large storage room.
