It really has been a pleasure having Damon and Wayne, as well as the whole Garden Spaces team, including the plasterer and the electrician, working on this project. Everyone has been extremely professional and courteous., and the quality of the work has been truly outstanding.

Summary

Our clients, like so many, came to us wishing to design a bespoke garden office that would be robust, long lasting and efficient to heat through the winter months. There were trees and vines in their garden which they wished to retain, so we came up with a design that worked round these features whilst ensuring plenty of natural light was captured.

Details

As the images reflect, we designed an L shaped room that worked well with the gardens existing greenery. The exterior of this SIPs (structured integrated panels) studio was finished with a contrast of western red cedar cladding and organic resin render. This silicone based render provides a highly durable, low maintenance finish that is available in two different textures and a wide range of colours. The cedar is equally durable and maintenance free though, if preferred, can be oiled annually to retain a greater depth of colour. We ensured maximum light penetrated the office by incorporating a glazed corner on one side and two narrow floor to ceiling windows on the other. In a addition a high opening window on the side wall allows further light and more importantly ensures a pleasant through breeze on hot summer days. The frames are all uPVC being anthracite grey (RAL 6017) externally but white internally giving a lovely light airy feel to the internal space. This studio is based on our Helix range, the floor being quality 10mm V-groove laminate. It is exceptionally robust so ideal for offices and comes with a 25 year residential warranty. It too is available in a wide range of finishes including many oaks and walnut. The final touches to this work environment include a wall mounted convector heater with thermostat and timer, dimmable down lighters and wireless broadband via power cable. This was not an easy space to manoeuvre and build in but the finished studio nestles beautifully into its surroundings and will, we trust, provide an inviting place to work winter and summer.
