I'd like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone on the team. It's been a pleasure to work with such a professional group of people where customer service is genuinely important.

Summary

This garden studio like so many, was installed to create office space for our client who works from home. Our SIPs (structured insulated panels) studios make fabulous offices not least because they are a separate building, away from the distractions of a normal family home and also because they are acoustically and thermally well insulated.

Details

The majority of our studios do not require planning but there are exceptions; for example if the associated main residence is a flat or if you are building an annex or dwelling. The planning situation with this property was unusual because it was a corner plot with roads on two sides. Certain positions are restricted and so planning was sought and granted to build in the desired location. The ground beneath the designated plot sloped slightly. This is a common problem; we rarely encounter perfectly level gardens! It is simply rectified by raising the concrete pile foundations on one side and camouflaging the slight height difference with colour matched shadow boards. A tree also sat relatively close to the build site but again, by virtue of the pile foundations, it did not have to be removed nor was there impactful damage to the roots. The bespoke design incorporated a WC the drainage for which was trenched across the patio. Power for the LED downlights, double sockets and wall mounted convector heater was supplied from the main board in the house via a 10mm 3-core armoured cable. So, a spacious well connected studio, great as an office but equally useful if needed for overnight guests or additional space.
