Summary

This client is a fitness instructor and personal trainer, so wished to install a gym in her garden for personal and business use. The studio design was to include an ensuite shower for which we were required to supply the first fix plumbing. As with many of our projects, making best use of the space at the bottom of the garden was an important factor, as was gaining maximum internal head height whilst remaining within permissible planning limits.

Details

Our designer carried out a detailed survey of the site and in close collaboration with our client came up with a design. In order to build the studio an existing shed had to be removed. As a result the neighbour reinstated their fence line which had an impact on the garden's dimensions and intended layout of the studio. Our experienced team were however able to reconfigure the studio to avoid any compromise on the desired design and dimensions. In order to achieve the desired head height, without requiring planning permission, the floor was countersunk. It was covered with our exceptionally durable 10mm v groove laminate which comes as standard in all helix studios and is backed by a 25 year manufacturer's warranty. It is available in a number of styles and colours; here, a very stylish grey oak finish has been chosen. The French doors and fixed glazed panels across the front give masses of natural light and a spacious feel to the studio as it looks back across the garden. The frames are uPVC, being anthracite grey externally and white internally. The cladding across the front is our kiln dried maintenance free thermowood, secretly fixed with stainless steel pins, with the boundary facing walls finished with cement particle board and painted in RAL coded anthracite grey weather shield paint to match that window and door frames.
