Summary

The Witcombes came to see our stand at the Grand Designs Exhibition in London in 2015. They wanted to create more living space for the family and felt that capitalising on some of their garden space was the way forward, though this meant removing an existing log store and garage. Storage was also a desirable as was a toilet and so these were incorporated into the design.

Details

Our clients removed the existing buildings from the desired site themselves however the remaining concrete slab proved unsuitable for our construction and so our team removed this prior to commencing the build. Our designer and the family came up with this stylish and rather quirky design with a sheltered porch area formed by cantilevering the roof over one corner. The all-important garden storage was integrated across the rear of the building, accessible externally, with the toilet tucked in behind it, accessible internally. Building control sign off was required due to the toilet inclusion, the plumbing for which tapped into the existing waste water pipework. The Family decided to have integral blinds as this room would be used for TV and possibly iPad / computers. Our integral blinds are completely sealed within the Argon filled double glazing, the mechanisms being controlled magnetically. They allow fine control of the light and of course are maintenance and cleaning free! Other features include a climate control unit, 17 internal and 4 external LED downlights and 6 double power sockets and timeless engineered oak flooring throughout.
