Our Solution

American researchers have designed what they believe is the ultimate office chair, capable of improving its users posture, productivity and mood. The chair, called the LimbIC, has no back or arm rests and its seat is formed from just two carbon shells, which are more at home in Formula One car productions. However, the benefits to chair users are two-fold, say its makers. Firstly the LimbIC's ergonomics naturally help improve a user's body posture by promoting a straighter sitting position. Furthermore its users will feel a sense of weightlessness, reports dailymail.co.uk. This feeling is thought to promote a more positive mindset, boost productivity and increase creativity. The company behind the Swiss invention, Inno-Motion, says that the seat is popular with dentists and doctors, as well as ordinary office workers - where around 60 per cent of the company's trade lies. Explaining how the design helps improve posture, Dr Patrik Kunzler, one of the masterminds behind the LimbIC, said: "The effortless, upright position relieves the intervertebral disks in the spine by avoiding pressure points. And the constant, if minute, movements improve disc nutrition and build up the strength and coordination of the spinal muscles." While the chair certainly seems to generate effects that would be welcomed by anyone; including garden office workers, who might be more prone to slouching at home, the LimbIC's aesthetics can be misleading. Cited by businessweek.com, Kunzler added:"Some people think: gynaecology chair. It doesn't look comfortable. With a human in it, you recognise it as a chair, but without it you don't."
