WEATHERPROOFING YOUR GARDEN BUILDING

A long lasting, water-tight roof is an absolute must on a garden building.

At Garden Spaces we use a RubberCover one-piece, single ply EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) sheet, produced by Firestone. All our installation teams are fully trained to install this material and therefore we can offer a 20-year warranty backed by the manufacturer.

ECO-FRIENDLY

EPDM rubber roofing dramatically lowers the carbon footprint of a structure in a number of ways:

  • The lifespan of a rubber roof is up to five times that of a felt roof, and 2-3 times longer than an asphalt roof.
  • EPDM is installed in an exceptionally eco-friendly way, without the lengthy and dangerous use of heat and flames.
  • Rubber sheet roofing provides excellent thermal insulation properties and is an outstanding sealant against water penetration.

HIGHLY DURABLE

Rubber such as EPDM is hailed for its strength and durability and is also a stable compound with no accompanying odour or fumes that normally characterise rubbers.

This material is so stable and watertight that it can be totally submerged and will never leak. This makes it a fantastic base material on which to mount our living sedum roofs which are wet for most of the year.

We secure the rubber roof with a contemporary extruded aluminium edge trim.

WATER DRAINAGE

All our roofs have a 2-inch fall across them to encourage water to run off into black plastic guttering which is usually situated at the rear of the building. If building regulations do not apply, then this water can drain onto the ground, we can harvest it in a water butt or divert it into a small soak away if necessary.
