4 Essential Items for Any Garden Office

Once you've claimed your portion of the garden, and erected your dedicated working space, it's time to kit out your office. With these must-have garden office accessories you can rock it like a pro.

1. Monitor Arm

Trying to get the ideal desk height, monitor distance combo can be a bit of a headache, but get it wrong and you'll be getting a lot of headaches, so it's something worth working on. You can solve the problem by propping your monitor up on a couple of thick unloved books, but every time your desk receives the slightest jolt the monitor will rock precariously back and forth. Save yourself hours of hassle and neck ache by investing in a monitor arm. Just like the mount for a flat screen TV, this will grab onto your monitor, hold it safe and secure, and allow you to bend, swing, and tilt it into the ideal viewing position. Some arms are attached to the desk, others to the wall. In a outdoor garden room, either options are suitable.

2. Gloriously Comfortable Chair

Your office chair will be one of the most important investments you ever make. You need an adjustable seat that allows you to place your feet flat on the floor, comfortably reach the keyboard, scoot your legs under the desk without squishing your thighs, and reach everything you need to without over extending. Choose a chair that is comfortable enough to use for extended periods of time, but encourages you to maintain good posture.

3. Hot Drinks Machine

Unless you want to be venturing back into the house every hour, where you risk being tempted by the ever present distractions of TV, video games and housework, install some form of hot drink making facility in your office. Models that use capsules offer a quick, easy, mess-free way to make a variety of hot drinks or you could go for the low tech option of a humble kettle.

4. Desk Tidy

When you first installed your desk no doubt you were thrilled with the vast expanse of flat working area it offered, until five minutes later it disappeared under diaries, pens, a phone, an iPod, and a coffee mug, or two, maybe three. To cope with the selection of tools and implements you need everyday, get yourself a clever desk tidy system that adds much needed shelves, pockets and storage areas to your desk.

As excited as you may be to hit the online shops and get spending, it is worth investing some time planning your office interior and listing the items you need to help you work there. The right gear and pleasant working environment can boost your productivity to such an extent, the office accessories will pay for themselves.
